MPE Pavement Collection System

MPE Pavement Collection System

Rival is pleased to announce the renewal of its agreement with MPE Engineering to provide comprehensive cloud based processing services for their Automated Pavement Condition surveys. MPE uses the RUBIX solution to provide enhanced workflow, data processing, quality assurance, and data visualization. In addition, RUBIX also supports MPE’s data processing activities for Cartegraph’s data collection business unit, which utilizes the same standard RUBIX workflow.  To date, over 10 cities have been processed through this workflow, with 6 additional cities planned for this coming year.

LA County RUBIX Dashboard

Los ‘Angeles County Public Works has renewed their agreement in the spring of 2016  with Rival Partner Stantec Consulting, benefiting from the process improvements that rInspector and RUBIX bring to their overall pavement management program.  The optimization of field collection efforts through rInpsector allows for distress rating, images, notes, and sketches in a single location, providing significant efficiency gains over the previous paper forms and imaging recording approaches.  Additionally, with the RUBIX dashboard, supervisors can provide on going QA around data quality, data coverage, and resource allocation.  Rival is proud to work with LA County in its mission to support the public infrastructure for over 10 million people.

It’s About Time: The Rival Blog

rRuf App

rRuf App

Finally, the first of hopefully many posts to come from either one of us, the ownership duo here at Rival Solutions.  For those not familiar with us personally, you can discover who we are through our profiles (ClaudeRob).  Time has flown by and we are already in our third year since the inception of the company in April of 2013.  At that time, we launched our very first smartphone app (rRuf) which measures road roughness using an iPhone (shown to the right).  This app has since been used all over the world for applications including paved road analysis, gravel road monitoring, and even sidewalk condition audits.   We have accomplished so much more since then and intend to use this blog to get information out to you as fast as we can. Typically, this will relate to the latest and greatest news on our products, our progress and growth as a company, as well as other interesting things we can think of that may or may not revolve around the age-old hockey rivalry between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadians (see what I did there?). Anyway, we are on a great run and want to continue to share our ability to help solve as many problems as we possibly can.

We may also tend to use this forum to offer technical guidance with respect to our overall RUBIX solution as we continue to assemble a more robust and self-sufficient support system.  These posts will generally relate to more common questions we get, so for you users out there, make sure you check in from time to time to see what is new on the technical side here.

Do not hesitate to contact us to find out more.

The City of Bécancour deploys RUBIX to measure pavement condition impact of freeze / thaw cycle

Becancour2Following an initial pilot project that concluded in 2013 , the Municipality of Bécancour has renewed RUBIX during the 2014 spring season.  The objective of the second project is to measure the ride quality of the cities road network during the pavement structure thaw period, and compare this with the data collected throughout 2013.  The results will be used to assess the impact on pavement condition of freeze/thaw cycles for the entire road network of the municipality.

This project is consistent with the current municipal action plan for the renewal of drinking water, sewage, and roads which is conducted according to the MAMROT (Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy Quebec) guide, published in November 2013.
